What GlossGenius has that we don't — and when it matters

  • Card payment processing (POS) at 2.6%
  • Email + SMS marketing campaigns (500 texts/mo on Standard)
  • Gift cards, packages, memberships
  • Native iOS / Android app
  • Forms & Waivers (Gold+)

  • AI Growth Analyst (Gold limited, Platinum unlimited)

GlossGenius is a strong product. If you actively use POS or run email/SMS marketing campaigns through the booking tool, those are real reasons to stay. If you mostly use it for the booking page + reminders + waitlist + processing time, ChairCal does those same jobs for less money and adds the unified inbox on top. Try the trial; the math will tell you which side wins for your specific chair.

FAQ

If you're considering the switch.

Not yet — ChairCal doesn't take card payments end-to-end (POS is on the roadmap). The smoothest path: keep a Square reader (or Stripe Reader) for in-chair checkout, and let ChairCal handle bookings, cancellation recovery, and the client inbox. You'll save on the GlossGenius monthly fee; you'll lose the 2.6% in-app card rate. For most stylists doing $5,000+/mo in bookings, the cancellation recovery alone covers the swap several times over.

Two things you don't currently have, that you'd pay $48/mo (Gold) to unlock there: (1) Fill — when a client cancels, your top regulars get the text one at a time with a real 60-second hold, in priority order; (2) Process Time — a second client books inside another client's color processing window. ChairCal includes both at $19/mo founders rate. Plus we add a unified text-and-email inbox per client, which GlossGenius doesn't have at any tier.

Honest answer: you might not need to. Gold gets you most of what we do well, plus things we don't do — POS, gift cards, forms, Google Reviews. The honest math: switching saves you $19–$29/mo in fees. If you don't use Gold's POS or marketing tools heavily, switching is a no-brainer. If you do, the math is tighter. Try the 14-day free trial; the saved $/mo speaks for itself.

GlossGenius's "Automated Waitlist" texts everyone on the list when a slot opens — usually first-come-first-served. The fence-sitters beat your regulars to it. Fill goes one client at a time, in priority order, with a real 60-second hold on each offer. Your most valuable regulars get the text first — because to your business, they are.

Yes. Export from GlossGenius as CSV (Clients → Export). Drop into ChairCal during onboarding. Your top regulars are in the cancellation rotation by the time you finish setup.
