Who sends these messages
ChairCal is operated by Haven Rock Labs LLC, a North Carolina limited liability company doing business as ChairCal. Stylists use ChairCal to run their booking, and ChairCal sends appointment texts to their clients on their behalf.
If you're a client, messages arrive from your stylist's ChairCal booking line. Automated messages (confirmations, reminders, openings) are written by ChairCal from fixed templates and carry opt-out instructions. If you text the line, your stylist can reply to you personally; those replies are their own words, part of your conversation.
How you opt in
Consent is collected on your stylist's booking page at chaircal.com, when you book or join their waitlist. There are two separate opt-ins and neither one is pre-selected for you.
1. Appointment texts
Entering a phone number when you book opts you in to appointment texts. Messaging consent is stated on its own, separate from accepting the Terms or Privacy Policy. This is what appears directly beneath the confirm button, before you submit:
2. Openings texts
A separate checkbox, unchecked by default, opts you in to hear about cancellation openings. Booking alone does not enroll you — you have to tick this box:
The same box, in the same words, is on your stylist's waitlist form when you choose to hear by text. Waitlist matches are texted only if you tick it; you can choose email instead.
Your stylist can't sign you up for openings texts. They can send you one text inviting you, and you're signed up only if you reply YES:
Other ways your number reaches us
If you text your stylist's booking line first, you get replies about what you asked and your own appointments. Texting first doesn't sign you up for openings texts.
If your stylist adds you as a client with a mobile number you gave them directly, they confirm you agreed to appointment texts about your own appointments, and ChairCal can send you those. Openings texts still need your own YES to their invite.
Phone number is optional throughout. You can book with an email address only and receive no texts at all.
What we send
- Appointment messages — booking confirmations, a reminder before your appointment, rescheduling notices, and a contact card the first time you book.
- Openings messages — an opening matching what you book, a waitlist match you asked for, an offer to move an existing appointment earlier, or a reminder that you're due to rebook. These require the openings opt-in above.
- Replies — if you text your stylist's booking line, it reaches them and they can reply.
Texts to stylists
Stylists give ChairCal their own mobile number when they sign up or in their settings, and see this beside the field before they save it:
These texts are about their own bookings. ChairCal does not send stylists marketing texts.
Frequency, rates, and stopping
Message frequency varies with how often you book. Most clients receive a few messages per appointment, plus the occasional openings notice. Message and data rates may apply.
Delivery depends on your mobile carrier and on network conditions we don't control. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Reply STOP to any message to opt out — we also honor STOPALL, UNSUBSCRIBE, CANCEL, END, QUIT, REVOKE, and OPTOUT. A short reply that says so in plain words, like "Stop texting me", opts you out too. Opt-out is immediate and we will not text you again unless you opt back in.
Reply HELP for help. You'll get back the business name, our support address, and opt-out instructions. You can also email support@chaircal.com at any time.
Your mobile information
We do not sell or share mobile opt-in information or SMS consent with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing purposes. Phone numbers and consent records are used only to deliver the messages described on this page, and are disclosed only to the messaging provider that carries them for us.
Full detail lives in our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
